*James Comey Says He’s ‘Mildly Nauseous’ at Suggestions He Swayed Election:

James B. Comey, the F.B.I. director, on Wednesday sharply defended his rationale for notifying Congress about new emails related to the Hillary Clinton investigation less than two weeks before Election Day, saying any suggestion that he had affected the vote’s outcome made him “mildly nauseous.” Mr. Comey’s comments were his first public explanation about his actions, which roiled the presidential campaign in its final days. The F.B.I. director said he went public on Oct. 28 because he believed his agents had possibly found emails that could provide insight into Mrs. Clinton’s reasons for using a private email server and change the outcome of the investigation. Mr. Comey said that failing to inform Congress would have a required an “act of concealment.” “Concealment in my view would have been catastrophic,” Mr. Comey said.

*PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY – David Axelrod Blasts Hillary for Blaming Comey

Former top Obama adviser David Axelrod on Wednesday blasted Hillary Clinton for blaming her election loss on FBI Director James Comey, attributing her defeat chiefly to the fact that she did not visit key states in the Midwest during the general campaign. “Jim Comey didn’t tell her not to campaign in Wisconsin after the convention. Jim Comey didn’t say, ‘Don’t put any resources into Michigan until the final week of the campaign,’” Axelrod said on CNN’s New Day. “One of the things that hindered her in the campaign was a sense that she never fully was willing to take responsibility for her mistakes, particularly that server.” In a rare public appearance on Tuesday, Clinton said she does blame herself for losing toDonald Trump, but added that Comey’s letters, as well as misogyny and the WikiLeaks releases, hurt her in the final days. “She said the words, ‘I’m responsible,’ but everything else suggested that she really doesn’t feel that way and I don’t think that helps her in the long run,” Axelrod said, adding: “It takes a lot of work to lose to Donald Trump, let me tell you.”

*LBN-WHERE THE ELITE AND UNDERDOGS MEET:

*MORE CHICAGO HORROR! 2 Chicago Cops Shot, Manhunt Underway

An intense manhunt is underway across Chicago after two police officers were shot Tuesday night, when the perpetrators allegedly pulled up to an unmarked law-enforcement vehicle and opened fire. The officers survived the shooting with non-life-threatening injuries—one was shot in the back, the other in the hip, local reports indicate. They were in serious condition but both were reported stable Tuesday night. Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said authorities are speaking to three people of interest in the investigation. “It’s just another example of how dangerous this job is,” he said. “And I think people take it for granted that when police officers come to work every day, they put their lives on the line every single day they get in their car.” Chicago Alderman Raymond Lopez, whose 15th Ward covers the neighborhood where the shooting occurred, said, “It is incomprehensible that this continues in our city, in our state, in our country.” Johnson added, “Listen, if they will fire at police officers like that, they have no thought process in terms of firing at other citizens of this great city. So, we are going to get them.”

*YIKES!  Comey says classified Clinton emails were forwarded to Anthony Weiner

Hillary Clinton emails containing classified information were forwarded to former congressman Anthony Weiner, the director of the FBI testified Wednesday as he defended his handling of politically sensitive probes surrounding the last year’s presidential race. Under questioning from the senior Democrat on the committee, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.),James B. Comey revealed more details about how Clinton’s emails ended up on Weiner’s computer.  Weiner, a New York Democrat, was married to a top aide to Clinton, Huma Abedin. Weiner was being investigated separately for possible inappropriate communications with a minor.

*El Chapo’s Former ‘Top Lieutenant’ Arrested

Mexican police on Tuesday arrested a Sinoloa drug cartel leader notorious for his time as Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman’sright-hand man. Damaso Lopez Nunez, known in the drug world as “the Graduate” for his legal skills, has more recently been on authorities’ radar for his role in battling for control of the Sinoloa cartel. He was arrested at an upscale apartment building in Mexico City early Tuesday, authorities said, and broadcast on television being escorted out by masked police officers and soldiers armed to the teeth. President Enrique Peña Nieto touted the arrest as a major victory in cracking down on the drug cartels, describing it as “another key objective in the battle against criminality” on Twitter. Authorities said three residences were raided as part of the investigation into Lopez, and at least one of his alleged associates was also apprehended. The U.S. is expected to seek extradition of Lopez, who will face accusations of money laundering and smuggling cocaine during his time as a “top lieutenant” of Guzman.

*Brad Pitt Opens Up About Angelina split, Reveals He’s Sober

Eight months have passed since Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, and the actor is coming to terms with the end of his relationship. “I can’t remember a day since I got out of college when I wasn’t boozing or had a spliff, or something. Something. And you realize that a lot of it is, um — cigarettes, you know, pacifiers. And I’m running from feelings,” Pitt disclosed in a candid interview with GQ Style. “I’m really, really happy to be done with all of that. I mean I stopped everything except boozing when I started my family. But even this last year, you know — things I wasn’t dealing with. I was boozing too much. It’s just become a problem. And I’m really happy it’s been half a year now, which is bittersweet, but I’ve got my feelings in my fingertips again. I think that’s part of the human challenge: You either deny them all of your life or you answer them and evolve.” Though Pitt could once “drink a Russian under the table with his own vodka,” he has since changed his cocktail of choice. “Cranberry juice and fizzy water,” he said. “I’ve got the cleanest urinary tract in all of L.A., I guarantee you! But the terrible thing is I tend to run things into the ground. That’s why I’ve got to make something so calamitous. I’ve got to run it off a cliff.”
*LBN-BUINESS INSIDER:   ***Apple’s iPhone business is sailing squarely into the doldrums between new models. The company said Tuesday that the number of iPhones sold globally fell 1 percent in the first calendar quarter, compared with the same period a year ago, although revenue rose to $52.9 billion as more customers bought the supersized, more expensive iPhone 7 Plus. Apple’s net income per share rose more than 10 percent, as a result of cost-cutting, higher prices and the company’s continuing program to buy back its stock.
*LBN-INVESTIGATES: In December 1952, air pollution in London created fatal smog that immediately killed 4,000 people and then 8,000 more in the following weeks. Burning coal was the main cause.

*Puerto Rico Declares a Form of Bankruptcy:
The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, said he would move the island’s debt crisis into federal bankruptcy court, making it the largest government to seek refuge from its creditors in United States history. Puerto Rico has roughly $73 billion of bond debt, and nearly $50 billion of unfunded pension obligations to restructure. The case will not be formally called bankruptcy, since Puerto Rico is barred from using Chapter 9, the usual chapter used by insolvent local governments. It will instead petition for relief under a new federal law for insolvent territorial governments, called Promesa.
*LBN-BOOK NEWS:  ***Before Barack Obama ever met his wife, Michelle, at her Chicago law firm, the future 44th president of the United States asked another woman to marry him in 1986 — while the two were visiting her parents’ home, a new biography claims. “Rising Star,” which is written by David J. Garrow, was reviewed Tuesday in the Washington Post. The review said, “Garrow portrays Obama as a man who ruthlessly compartmentalized his existence; who believed early on that he was fated for greatness; and who made emotional sacrifices in the pursuit of a goal that must have seemed unlikely to everyone but him.” According to the review, Sheila Miyoshii Jager, his love interest, refused his advances at the time because her mother said she was too young. She was 23 and Obama was 25.

*LBN-COMMENTARY by Geoffrey Ashley: Sex, violence and sarcasm drive FRONTIERS, my cyberpunk, serialized graphic novel — often described as a “Pulp Fiction Star Wars” — about a man destined to destroy humanity…and why that really isn’t such a bad thing.  FRONTIERS is drawn in a raw style and packed with action, romance and dark humor, all wrapped in a classic cyberpunk warning about corporations and technology run amok.  Why an indie graphic novel?  Because FRONTIERS is my baby.  And no other medium can better allow me to exercise my tremendous, auteur control-freakishness, anti-establishment storytelling impulses and unfettered, off-kilter imagination all at once! ()

*LBN-COMMENTARY by Thomas L. Friedman: Has the first 100 days of the presidency made Donald Trump nuts? I don’t ask that question as a doctor. I don’t do medical diagnoses. I ask it as a newspaper reader. You read all of Trump’s 100-day interviews and they are just bizarre. Out of nowhere Trump tells us he would be “honored” to negotiate directly with the leader of North Korea, after weeks of threatening war. Out of nowhere he says he would consider a gasoline tax to pay for infrastructure. Out of nowhere he says he is considering breaking up the nation’s biggest banks. He also insists that his Obamacare replacement legislation contains protections for people with pre-existing conditions that it doesn’t. There’s barely a dictator in the world for whom he doesn’t have praise. And he repeats a known falsehood — that Barack Obama wiretapped him — and tells reporters they should go find the truth, when, as president, he could get the truth from the F.B.I. with one phone call, and when pressed whether he stands by that allegation, answers, “I don’t stand by anything.

*LBN-COMMENTARY by Michael Moore (Filmmaker): If you want my general philosophical thought about this: One things the Democrats didn’t understands is that Trump is a beloved TV star. I’ve had this question now for almost 20 years — Why don’t the Democrats run Tom Hanks? Why doesn’t Oprah run? Why don’t we run someone that’s beloved by the American people? Democrats always shy away from Hollywood, and I always say to them, “Really? Because out where I live, people love Hollywood! They love the movies. They love stars.” The Republicans run Reagan, they run Schwarzenegger. Gopher from “The Love Boat” was elected to Congress in Iowa. They run Sonny Bono. Why don’t the Democrats run somebody that people love?

*LBN-A DIFFERENT VIEW:…

*LBN-OVERHEARD:   ***Lena Dunham’s night at the 2017 Met Gala didn’t end with a typical after-party. The Girls star was rushed to the hospital from the soiree, E! News confirms. Fortunately, she was released after completing a series of tests. “She’s at home resting and doing well,” a source says. “As you know she’s very public about her battles with endometriosis.” Prior to the big event, however, all seemed well for Dunham. The 30 year old documented the process of getting ready, sharing photos of herself primping for the big night. She even shared a makeup-free, naked selfie and captioned it, “Met ready.”   ***Mother knows best! After Selena Gomez and The Weeknd made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 2017 Met Gala in New York City Monday, the “Starboy” singer shared a photo taken on the museum steps with his 12.5 million Instagram followers. Gomez’s mother commented on the picture—making it clear she approves of their blossoming romance. “Glowing, smiling, looking health and equal love,” Mandy Teefey—who produced Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why—gushed. “Mama is happy XO.”   ***Former “Saturday Night Live” comedian and Donald Trump backer Joe Piscopo said Wednesday that he will not launch an independent campaign to succeed Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. Piscopo announced the decision during his radio show, telling a live audience at an event in Paramus that he doesn’t want to be a divider.   ***Authorities say Mexican singer Luis Miguel was arrested by U.S. marshals on Tuesday and released on bond hours later in a case involving a dispute in which he has been ordered to pay more than $1 million to his former manager. The singer, whose full name is Luis Miguel Gallego Basteri, surrendered Tuesday morning and later appeared before a federal judge in Los Angeles who had held him in contempt for failing to appear at court hearings, said Deputy US Marshal Matthew Cordova. The five-time Grammy winner does not have an attorney listed in the court case and his record label declined comment.
