Trump: Le Pen Is France’s ‘Strongest’ Candidate:
President
Donald Trump on Friday suggested on Friday that Thursday’s terror attack at the Champs-Elysees in Paris will “probably help” France’s far-right presidential candidate
Marine Le Pen. While claiming he was not explicitly endorsing Le Pen, he said she is the “strongest on borders, and she’s the strongest on what’s been going on in France.” French citizens will head to the polls for the first round of voting in the presidential election on Sunday.

At Least 100 Killed in Taliban Attack on Afghan Military Base:
More than 100 Afghan soldiers were killed Friday in a Taliban attack on a military base. The Defense Ministry put the death toll at “more than 100,” while a local official said at least 140 were killed in the attack on a base in the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif. Up to 10 Taliban militants entered the base Friday disguised in military uniforms and driving military vehicles, opening fire on Afghan soldiers who were eating a meal or leaving a mosque after prayers, officials said. They used rocket-propelled grenades, rifles, and suicide vests. “It was a chaotic scene and I didn’t know what to do. There was gunfire and explosions everywhere,” one serviceman told Reuters. A Taliban spokesman said the massacre was revenge for military operations against the terrorist group. The Taliban claimed one of the attackers had infiltrated the military and been serving for some time, though that has not yet been independently verified.

American Airlines Suspends Employee After Fight With Passenger:
American Airlines has suspended an employee after a fight with a passenger over a baby stroller went viral. The incident, which happened Friday on a flight from San Francisco to Dallas, started over a dispute about whether or not a woman could bring her baby’s stroller on board. Video of the altercation posted on Facebook by a fellow passenger shows the woman crying and asking a flight attendant for the seized stroller before a male passenger confronts flight attendants. Passenger
Surain Adyanthaya, who posted the video, said a flight attendant had “violently” taken the stroller from the woman moments earlier, hitting her with it and nearly striking the baby. A male passenger can be heard telling the flight attendant, “Hey, bud, you do that to me and I’ll knock you flat,” before the flight attendant challenges him to “bring it on.” “You don’t even know what the story is,” the flight attendant can be heard saying. “I don’t care what the story is. You almost hurt a baby,” the passenger replies. American Airlines issued a statement after the fight offering an apology. “What we see on this video does not reflect our values or how we care for our customers. We are deeply sorry for the pain we have caused this passenger and her family and to any other customers affected by the incident,” the statement said. The airline upgraded the woman and her family to first-class for a separate flight the family took to Dallas.

Trump Replaces Surgeon General Murthy:

President Trump’s administration asked U.S. Surgeon General
Vivek Murthy to step down on Friday, replacing him with his deputy. The U.S. Department of Health and HumanServices issued a late-night statement saying Murthy “was asked to resign from his duties as Surgeon General after assisting in a smooth transition into the new Trump Administration.” Murthy, an appointee of former President
Obama, has been replaced by Rear Admiral
Sylvia Trent-Adams, the current Deputy Surgeon General and one of the first nurses to serve as surgeon general. Trent-Adams had already replaced Murthy on the surgeon general’s Twitter account late Friday, leaving commentators asking what had happened to Murthy. Murthy was outspoken in calling attention to the country’s rampant gun violence and well-known for acknowledging that marijuana can be “helpful” for certain conditions.

Report: Russia Sought to ‘Infiltrate’ Campaign Through Advisers:

According to a CNN report, Russian operatives sought to“infiltrate” the Trump campaign through its advisers, using “backdoor channels.” Citing U.S. officials, CNN reports that FBI intelligence-gathering led to the conclusion. One such adviser was
Carter Page, but it was unclear whether Page knew he was being used by the Russians. It is possible, the network reported, that Page “unknowingly” spoke with Russian operatives. “My assumption throughout the last 26 years I’ve been going there has always been that any Russian person might share information with the Russian government… as I have similarly done with the CIA, the FBI and other government agencies in the past,” Page said.

YouTube Unhides LGBT Videos From Young Viewers:

YouTube Vice President of Product Management
Johanna Wright announced in a blog post Friday that engineers have “fixed an issue” with Restricted Mode, an optional video-filtering feature designed to hide “potentially inappropriate content.” YouTube noted that “12 million additional videos of all types—including hundreds of thousands featuring LGBTQ+ content—are [now] available in Restricted Mode.” We want to clarify that Restricted Mode should not filter out content belonging to individuals or groups based on certain attributes like gender, gender identity, political viewpoints, race, religion or sexual orientation,” Wright wrote. In March, LGBT YouTubers drew international media attention to the fact that Restricted Mode was hiding several of their videos, even if they did not contain adult language or sexually explicit content. YouTube responded with several apologies and promises to correct the feature, noting that only about 1.5 percent of daily views come from users who have Restricted Mode activated. Restricted Mode is generally used in “schools and libraries,” as Wright noted.

LBN-OVERHEARD: ***Elisabeth Moss‘ new role in “The Handmaid’s Tale” includes some incredibly awkward sex scenes with Joseph Fiennes and Yvonne Strahovski. “Sex scenes are always f–king awkward,” the 34-year-old actress told a group of reporters on Friday at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of the Hulu show. “They’re always the worst. This is actually not as awkward because you have clothes on.” Based on Margaret Atwood’s 1985 dystopian novel, the show is set in a theocratic, totalitarian society battling infertility by assigning handmaids to bear children.
