*ISIS to Jihadists: Use Fake Apartment, Job, Craigslist Ads to Lure Hostage, Murder Victims
The Islamic State magazine that has published tutorials on vehicle, knife and arson attacks as a tool of lone jihad is now encouraging terrorists to acquire guns at shows and shops and take hostages not for ransom but “to create as much carnage and terror as one possibly can. “The latest issue of Rumiyah magazine, distributed online in 10 languages including English, offers another installment of the “Just Terror Tactics” series, praising lone jihadists including U.S. terrorists who have “set heroic examples with their operations.” The objective of taking hostages, would-be jihadists are told, is “not to hold large numbers of the kuffar hostage in order to negotiate one’s demands,” but to sow terror with “the language of force, the language of killing, stabbing and slitting throats, chopping off heads, flattening them under trucks, and burning them alive, until they give the jizyah [tax] while they are in a state of humiliation.” “The scenario for such an attack is that one assaults a busy, public, and enclosed location and rounds up the kuffar [disbelievers] who are present. Having gained control over the victims, one should then proceed to slaughter as many of them as he possibly can before the initial police response, as was outstandingly demonstrated by the mujahidin who carried out the Bataclan theatre massacre during the course of the blessed Paris raid,” the article instructs.

*U.S. Unemployment Hits a 10-Year Low

Job growth in the U.S. bounced back in April, according to new figures from the U.S. Department of Labor issued Friday. The numbers follow weak March results: 211,000 jobs were added last month, bringing the three-month average to 174,000. The unemployment rate ticked down to 4.4 percent from 4.5 percent, making it the lowest rate in more than 10 years. According to the report, wage gains were modest, but employers continue to complain about a shortage of employees, in particular for part-time work.

*North Korea: CIA Has Biochemical Plot to Kill Kim Jong Un

North Korean state media has accused the CIA of hatching a “vicious plot” with South Korea to assassinate Kim Jong Un via “biochemical substances.” Pyongyang officials said the two have a plan to kill off the young leader during a public ceremony. “We will ferret out and mercilessly destroy to the last one the terrorists of the U.S. CIA and the puppet IS [intelligence service] of South Korea,” a statement said. The plot is essentially a “declaration of a war,” it said. “The heinous crime, which was recently uncovered and smashed in the DPRK, is a kind of terrorism against not only the DPRK but the justice and conscience of humankind and an act of mangling the future of humankind.” State media reported that the two countries had “corrupted” and “bribed” a North Korean citizen who had the surname Kim. The statement did not give any further information about how the alleged plot was foiled or what became of the alleged spy. The CIA has declined to comment on the allegations.

*Trump Praises ‘Fantastic’ Ties With Australia After Refugee Spat
U.S. President Donald Trump meets with Australia’s Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull ahead of an event commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Battle of the Coral Sea, aboard the USS Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in New York, U.S. May 4, 2017. In his first encounter with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull since a high-profile phone spat in February, U.S. President Donald Trump had nothing but praise for the Australian leader Thursday. “We get along great. We have a fantastic relationship, I love Australia, I always have,” Trump said after meeting with Turnbull in New York. His comments suggested a major turnaround from his stance in February, when he called an agreement for the U.S. to accept refugees from an Australian detention camp a “dumb deal” and reportedly hung up on Turnbull during a heated phone call. That incident triggered a feud between the two leaders, though Trump said Thursday that the refugee deal had since “been worked out.” “We got a little testy, but that’s OK,” he said. He also praised Australia’s health-care system and derided America’s—on the very same day the House of Representatives approved a GOP plan to replace Obamacare. “We have a failing health care—I shouldn’t say this to our great gentleman and my friend from Australia, because you have better health care than we do,” Trump told Turnbull, according to The Washington Post.

*Uber Faces Criminal Probe Over Software Used for Evading Authorities

Uber is facing a criminal investigation over its use of a software tool, called Greyball, to evade cops and local transportation regulators, Reuters reports. The ride-hailing company previously acknowledged that it used Greyball to avoid official sting operations in areas like Portland, Oregon, where the service had not yet been approved. Lawyers for Uber, in documents newly released by Portland officials, have said the software was used “exceedingly sparingly” before the company was formally approved in the city in 2015. The investigation is still in its early stages, and it’s not yet clear if officials have determined any potential criminal violation.

*El Chapo Still Has No Attorney

International drug-cartel boss Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmanhas auditioned at least 16 private attorneys over the last three months from Manhattan’s federal jail, and he still has not found a lawyer. The notorious drug kingpin is being represented by court-appointed public defenders, and he faces a string of complex charges that carry a mandatory minimum life sentence in prison. A judge ruled days ago that Guzman can message with his wife about how to hire a legal team—and pay them. Manhattan lawyer Richard Levitt was one of the many respected attorneys who have been interviewed by the famed prison escapee. “The government may be taking the position that any money paid for a lawyer is tainted,” Levitt said, noting that Guzman faces a tough road finding a lawyer. Guzman will reportedly have to provide evidence that any money he uses for legal fees did not emanate from a criminal enterprise, even if the money comes from a benefactor. “It would take an immense amount of resources to represent this guy,” said another attorney, Steven Brounstein. Guzman’s charges span over two decades, various countries, and rely on cooperating witnesses with often competing agendas.

*NYC Cafe: Starbucks Stole Our Unicorn Drink

A Brooklyn cafe that invented the “Unicorn Latte” months before Starbucks’ “Unicorn Frappuccino” came into the world is claiming that the coffee giant ripped off their idea. The colorful Starbucks drink garnered an incredible amount of social-media attention last month when the drink was introduced for a limited run. According to court documents, The End began selling the Unicorn Latte in December and has had a pending trademark on the name since January. Neither of the drinks contain coffee, but The End’s product is made from natural ingredients like algae, ginger root, and dates. By contrast, the Starbucks drink is made from artificial sweeteners and milk. The cafe has asked for a public apology and an unspecified amount of compensation. Starbucks has said the lawsuit is bogus and claims it is without merit.

*LBN-BUSINESS INSIDER:   ***An Australian man has leveled a broadside against American Airlines — for seating him next to two plump passengers on a 14-hour flight, an ordeal he claims left him with permanent injuries. Michael Anthony Taylor, 67, said the airline refused to allow him to change seats, leaving him “crouching, kneeling, bracing or standing” for much of the flight from Sydney to Los Angeles. He said his squashed position by the window during the long flight worsened his scoliosis — or spinal curvature — and caused lower and upper back injuries as well as neck bruising.

He was 96. His death was confirmed by his son, Dr. Stuart Youngner. Dr. Youngner was the last surviving member of the original three-man research team assembled by Dr. Jonas Salk at the University of Pittsburgh to address the polio scourge, which peaked in the United States in the early 1950s when more than 50,000 children were struck by it in one year. Three other assistants later joined the group.

*LBN-HISTORICAL COMMENTARY by George Washington:Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence.
*LBN-SPOTLIGHT: Air travel in the United States has become a combustible mix in which passengers aren’t the only ones treated unfairly, senators were told Thursday. Travelers all too frequently take out their frustrations on airline employees, including flight attendants and gate agents, speakers said at a Senate hearing. Senators from both parties said airlines must improve the way they treat their passenger, but they also said airline employees must be treated with respect. Lawmakers also revived talk of a congressionally imposed “Passenger Bill of Rights.” —– Every airline employee (top to bottom) should be required to read the seminal business book “Broken Windows, Broken Business”! ——

*LBN-COMMENTARY by Vicki Cases (Small business owner):In one breath Barack Obama is endorsing a candidate in the French election and in the next breath he says he will not take sides in foreign elections. We call this talking out of both sides of your mouth. Barack Obama also states his endorsement is because this candidate believes in liberal values and is running on people’s hopes instead of their fears. What exactly are liberal values and who’s hopes and fears does this candidate actually believe in? Sounds like the same old, same old that Obama and the Democrats tried shoving down our throats for eight long years. I hope France can avoid that fate

*LBN-COMMENTARY by Carol Law: Does A Son Need A Male Role Model:  Depends on the male and the female.  My nephew is one of the kindest, caring men one is likely to come across on this narcissistic planet.  Yet he fathered three unprincipled/marginally unprincipled; dysfunctional/marginally dysfunctional sons.   Along with his true Christian ways, my nephew was almost totally under the thumb of a controlling, somewhat manipulative wife.  It was unfortunately she, the mother, who was the chief influence on their sons’ upbringing.  As luck would have it, a large chunk of the boys’ DNA seems to have come down from the female side as well.

*LBN-OVERHEARD:   ***Paris Jackson has signed a massive seven-figure deal to be the new face of Calvin Klein. It marks her first major fashion campaign as she continues her rise as Hollywood’s current It girl. We further hear that the daughter of late King of Pop Michael Jackson shot the cover of Vogue Australia this week, and she was also just cast in aCharlize Theron film for Amazon Studios along with Amanda Seyfried, Joel Edgerton and Thandie Newton.   ***“The first time I ever fell in love with a movie star, it was Goldie Hawn,” said Reese Witherspoon, speaking from behind a (quite literally) star-studded podium along the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday. Witherspoon was one of three speakers (along with Kate Hudson and director Quentin Tarantino) at Hawn’s and Kurt Russell’s ceremony commemorating the couple’s Walk of Fame stars. “Oh my gosh, I’m going to try not to cry,” Witherspoon continued, choking up during her speech.
